Edward Harrison Obituary

Mr. Edward Eugene Harrison, Sr. was born October 15, 1938, in McCormick, South Carolina, the only child of Alec and Lillie Harrison. At the age of 18 mos., his mother brought him to live in Chattanooga, TN. As an adult, he preferred to be called "Ed". Later, he joined the U.S. Army and served 6 years, then was honorably discharged.

He was a faithful member of First Baptist Church of Ooltewah, where he served as an usher and also worked with the Kitchen Committee. He retired from Quaker Oats Company following 28 years of service. Ed enjoyed watching NASCAR Racing and Boxing.

Ed passed away Tuesday, July 9, 2024, at his residence at the age of 85. He was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife, Jewel; brother, Eddie Harrison; daughter, Gail Harrison; grandson, Jordan; and sister, Daisy Quarles.

He leaves to cherish his memories, his very devoted and loving wife of 36 years, Sarah; son, Edward Jr.; Stepson, Barry Griggs; brothers, James Harrison, and J. C. Jennings, of Greenwood, SC; Sister, Dorothy Evans, Honea Path, SC; Dedicated Nephew, Larry Hawes; four grandchildren, three great-grandchildren; a very devoted granddaughter, Savannah Edwards; several nieces and nephews and other relatives and friends.

Public viewing will be held from 9:00 am until 12:00 noon on Thursday, July 18, 2024, followed by a 12:00 noon funeral service at the chapel of John P. Franklin Funeral Home in Chattanooga, TN. Internment will take place at Chattanooga National Cemetery with military honors. John P. Franklin Funeral Home are in charge of arrangements. Announcement courtesy of Robinson & Son Mortuary, Inc.
