Chris Akunda Obituary

Chris Sudi Akunda Sept. 8, 1996 - June 6, 2009 It is with profound sorrow that we announce the sudden passing of our beloved Chris Sudi Akunda. Chris is the son of Drs. Jacqueline Kinyamu-Akunda and Eric Akunda; and brother to Jackie Akunda. He is the beloved grandson of Gladys Kinyamu and the late Bedan Kinyamu and the late Manoa and Christabel Akunda. Chris completed 7th grade at Hamilton Southeastern Junior High School where he excelled as a student. Chris was a loving son, talented soccer player and pianist, and had a great love for music. He was a kind friend to many, young and old alike. Chris had a renowned, magnetic and infectious smile. He irrevocably touched many lives during his short life. Chris took his place with the Lord on Saturday, June 6, 2009 at the young age of 12 years. He died doing what he loved best-playing soccer in the Coca-Cola Classic Soccer Tournament in Greenwood, Indiana. While playing, Chris suddenly collapsed and was taken to the hospital and thereafter died due to an undiagnosed heart condition. We will cherish all the moments spent with you and we will love you forever, Chris. He loved, laughed and played. May God rest his soul in eternal peace. Viewing will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., Saturday, June 20 at Christ the Savior Lutheran Church, 10500 E. 126th Street, Fishers, IN 46038, with the service from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Chris Akunda Memorial Fund, co Fifth Third Bank, 11662 Commercial Blvd., Fishers IN 46038.
