Henry John Ebershoff, II
67, of Lafayette went to be with The Lord God after a brave battle with throat cancer at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday, June 21, 2012.
Always fun, he kept his humor and quick wit to the end surrounded by his wife, Lana; sons, Richard II, Scott and Craig. Henry is also survived by his sister, Susan E. Ebershoff-Coles; 2 step-sons, Brandon Blankenship and Nathan Timmons and seven grandchildren.
Upon graduation in 1967 from Purdue, he went to work at the family company and Henry went on to be President/Owner of Lafayette Tent and Awning Company, Inc. in 1974. Henry deeply loved his family, his pets Rockie and Izzy, and was loved by many. He will be greatly missed by the many people he touched in his life.
Today, to honor Henry at this sad time, please commit one random act of kindness to another. That was how Henry Ebershoff lived his life.
In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Almost Home Humane Society or CASA for Kids, Tippecanoe County, or the charitable organization of your choice.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday in Hippensteel Funeral Home, 822 N. 9th St., Lafayette. Mass of Christian burial will be at 10 a.m. on Wednesday in St. Ann's Catholic Church with Father Dominic Young officiating. Burial to follow in Spring Vale Cemetery. Lana, I am so saddened to hear of the loss of Henry, your wonderful, loving husband. I remember the video when you changed the tv channel from the other room and what a good sport he was! Although I didn't know Henry, I feel like I do now based on you sharing memories you cherish. Stay strong for your family, and please take care of yourself. Just remember he knew you loved him and that is the most important thing to comfort you. I love you Lana. You are a strong, beautiful person, on the inside and out. Much love and comfort to you, Mindi

Henry was a genuine person. A person who loved to laugh and make others laugh. Someone who had the spunk of 1,000 and the bravery of 1,000,000. That just isn't something you see every day~
He had so much love to give and will continue sharing that love as he watches over his family and friends.

I had the great fortune to grow up next to 3 generations of Ebershoffs in Lafayette, Indiana. The kindness, generosity, loyalty and friendship they showed me during my formative years have deeply influenced who I am today for the better. My thoughts and prayers are with the Ebershoff family.

Dearest Lana and family,
You shared your struggles publicly with us and we are so saddened for all of you that are grieving the loss of your beloved Henry. This is the first I've seen his face and he was a very handsome man. I know he was so grateful for the love and care you gave to him before as well as after he got ill. I know you will miss him forever, but he will be close by. Listen and watch for him. That video you did when the two of you were driving around...I will always remember him as Swearing Henry!

I always looked up to Henry as a big brother. He would always say, "You gotta take the bitter with the sweet" and it is certainly true today. I learned a lot from him as my freshman basketball coach and for years later. I will always remember our trips to the Triple XXX and his "brotherly" advise. Goodby Efe.

My family is so very sorry to hear of Henry's death. I remember him as a Purdue student, a fine athlete, a kind and generous person. Henry was also one of the guys at Hershel and Mary's Pub, a friendly presence.I will commit an act of kindness in memory of Henry, and I hope his many friends will do so, also--that's how Henry would like to be remembered, I think.
