James Colvin Obituary
James A. Colvin
93, died Wednesday, November 14, 2012. Mr. Colvin attended Wabash College, Indiana University, and Indiana University School of Law. He was engaged in the private practice of law in Indianapolis and was a part-time employee of the State of Indiana. He had also served as a deputy prosecutor for Marion County. In 1984, he was named Sagamore of the Wabash by Governor Robert Orr.
Following four and one-half years in the U.S. Army during World War II, Mr. Colvin was a special agent of the FBI in the Carolinas and New York City.
In his spare time, Mr. Colvin enjoyed writing poetry and essays, photography, woodworking, including fine furniture and constructing a replica "Noah's Arc" for the Indianapolis Zoo in 1973.
James is survived by his loving daughter Catherine Louise Sayre of Indianapolis, granddaughters Alyssa Choplin and Priscilla Pethe, and three great-grandchildren.
James was preceded in death by his beloved wife Jeanne E. (Dawley) Colvin in 2009 and his daughter Mary Anne Pethe in 1987.
