John Wiley Obituary

John R. Wiley 92, passed away on May 2, 2010, at his home in Lebanon, IN. He was born in Boone County, IN on November 12, 1917, and was the son of the late William and Margaret (Roach) Wiley. He married Beatrice I. "Bird" (Maloney) Wiley on August 23, 1947, at St. Malachy Catholic Church in Brownsburg, IN. Mrs. Wiley passed away June 20, 2009. He was reared and educated in Boone County, where he graduated from Perry Central High School in 1935. John served during WW II in the Texas National Guard and later with the Army Air Corps. He completed 31 missions as a co-pilot. He received the Distinguished Flying Cross Award and the Air Medal with two bronze clusters. John was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church. He belonged to the American Legion, 40 & 8, and the 487th Bomb Group. He was a fourth generation farmer in Boone County. He enjoyed Purdue basketball and Notre Dame football, genealogy and attending his annual 487th Bomb Group reunions. The Funeral Mass will be held at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 319 East South St., in Lebanon, IN, on Thursday May 6, 2010, at 10:30 a.m. Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday May 5, 2010, at Myers Chapel of Memories, 1502 North Lebanon Street, in Lebanon, IN. Interment will follow with military rites in the St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery in Lebanon, IN. The Rosary will be held at the mortuary on Wednesday, May 5, 2010, at 3:30 p.m. prior to the visitation. Survivors include six children, Margaret Ann (Daniel) Wunderlich, Terre Haute, Rose (William) Myers, Austin, Texas, Bonnie (David) Kincaid, Lebanon, Frances Wiley, Robert G. (Tricia) Wiley, and Jerry Wiley of Lebanon, a sister, Margaret Johanna Hanlon, Anderson, sisters-in-law, Mary H. Wiley, Lebanon, and Patricia Edwards, Zionsville; ten grandchildren, Erikah Fox, Louisville, KY, Brent Wunderlich, Conroe, TX, Aaron Wunderlich, Bakersfield, CA, Adriane Wunderlich, Terre Haute, Andrew Myers, Schaumburg, IL, Holly Myers, Austin, TX, Leslie Myers, Brooklyn, NY, Staci Kincaid Sorgatz, Madison Heights, MI, Sydney Wiley and Bridget Wiley, Lebanon; four great-grandchildren, Eryn Fox and John R. Fox, Louisville, KY, Taylor Sorgatz and Morgan Sorgatz, Madison Heights, MI, and several nieces and nephews. Deceased are a grandson, Daniel D. Kincaid, four brothers, William, Thomas, Robert and Samuel Wiley, and two sisters Mary Ann Wiley and Sister Marguerite (Martha) Wiley. Memorials may be made to St. Joseph Catholic Church, 319 E.
