It's hard to believe that Barbara is no longer in this world. Barbara of the lovely voice, the brilliant mind and the sweet demeanor. I went to school with her from Yeshiva through high school at Penn and will always remember her as a truly loving soul. Her wit was dry and her joy was her family.
With love,

I am so sorry to hear about the loss of Barbara. She was a lovely, caring woman. I admired her courage and strength as she handled her illness. I thoroughly enjoyed finally meeting her in Colorado, even though it felt like we had known each other for many years. I remember her laughter and the fun time we all had at Sue's house. May all of your loving memories of Barbara bring you peace, comfort, and strength.

Saddened & surprised to learn of Barbara's passing. Barbara may you rest in peace. You worried about everyone & everything and when you shared w/me long ago your conversation w/Rabbi Rosenbloom that there is just too many things to do he said "just say no" Well Barbara you never said no and you were always there for me for your neighbor for your family and for your AJ family. Now REST and in PEACE you deserved to lived longer but you also deserve rest and peace. My condolences to Chuck, Jonathan & Mindy.

Barb was my best friend,Susie's, older sister. There was nothing that Barb couldn't do better than her sisters and me. She was smarter, more talented, and more sophisticated than we would ever be. As if that weren't enough, she had the most beautiful singing voice. Whenever I saw her over the years in Harrisburg, she was always gracious. As recently as Susie's surprise 60th birthday party, which I attended in Colorado, Barb went out of her way to make sure that I was included in the family photo. A lovely, thoughtful, lady.
She will be missed.
With deepest sympathy to her family,

To Chuck and Family,
Barb's passing has left a hole in my heart, but it is gradually filling with very fond memories.
I remember Barb in ninth grade, coming into homeroom in the morning, chattering about Litttle Joe on the T.V. show Bonanza or sharing sheet music of the songs from the latest Brodway or MGM musical, like South Pacific and Oklahoma. In eleventh grade, I remember a school newspaper headline about her: "Menaker Makes Merit Magic," after she had become a Merit Scholarship finalist.
Through three years of high school, I was awed by her musical talent. She especially enjoyed singing "Anything You Can Do, I Can do Better" in our spring musical. It suited her strong sense of fair play. Of course, she was usually the accompanist for our school choirs. I was always her page turner, sitting on her right side on the piano bench. I loved doing that for her because she would often grumble under her breath about the tempo or the sopranos going flat or whatever flaw she had noticed; once she said, 'Those sopranos are screeching again!" Sometimes it was hard not to laugh.
A trait we shared was a love of language curiosities, like long puns, malapropisms, and Spoonerisms. She'd howl.
Most of all I remember her ironic sense of humor and her mind. She had, I believe, the ablest and sharpest mind in our class, capable of doing everything from English to algebra and calculus. Since our high school days, I have honestly missed the stimulation her mind gave to mine.
Remember that you cannot feel life's pain unless you have felt life's joy, and I know Barb gave you much of that.
My prayers are with you.
