I just learned that Dr. Kalf passed away, which made me sad. I've only known him for a short time, but he's been helping our Alzheimer's Disease Research program fund innovative scientists for over fifteen years. We couldn't get together in person because of the COVID lockdown, but we had many sweet phone conversations over the last three years. It was so nice talking with him.

Deep condolences to his family.

I have so many fond memories of Dr. George Kalf. He hired me to be his Secretary way back in November of 1993. At that time, he was the Execute Secretary of the Biosafety Committee at Thomas Jefferson University. He continued to do his research, but that was ending, so he started doing more with the administrative side of research. After a few years and different titles, he became the Associate Dean of Scientific Affairs. I then became his Administrative Assistant and continued to work with him until he retired. I learned so much from Dr. Kalf. Professionally....and personally. I will be forever grateful that he allowed me to work for him.

My Deepest Condolences to the entire Kalf family and Eleanor Nygren.

George was responsible for me moving out of the laboratory and into the safety aspect of research. I will be forever grateful to him for approaching me and pushing me into the role I now have. He was an excellent teacher and a consummate gentleman. He will be missed.

Dr. Kalf was the consummate academic professional and role model. His was a career worthy of immense pride. While those of us who come after can only try to emulate him, we will never be able to fill his shoes. He will be missed.
