Dr. Berger was my physician since I was 15 all the way through college. He was by far the most amazing doctor I have ever met. He treated my parents, also. I recall something about him first not scheduling appointments because "did a person have to have an appointment to be sick???" He built up his practice rapidly because he would accept all walk-ins and THEN he had to have patients by appointment. He said it was exhausting. He had long hours and finally had to have associate physicians help with the heavy work load. His uncanny talent was his diagnosing abilities. Others have said he was the best they had ever seen. He could detect things that other doctors would put you through a battery of tests...and then they still didn't know what was wrong. Dr. Joe was in a class by himself. Truly phenomenal!!!!! My condolences extend to his family. I apologize for this late post but I just found out today about his passing. I am so honored to know him!!! My wife, who is terrified of doctors, liked him, too. Everything about him was fantastic. We have lost a truly great man.

I remember when he was my Dr up until he retired. I was shy as a child and he always made me feel comfortable. He was very understanding and was always a great listener. He was a gentle soul and a wonderful person as well as a great Dr. My condolences on your loss. He will be missed and remembered by many. He is one of the greatest people I've ever met.

I'm so very sorry to hear this - I actually just found out that My Cousin Joe died today - very upsetting that none of us knew this. This picture was the last time I saw him in 2018 at my aunt Tsippi's surprise 95th birthday party. We had a lovely time with him and Cousin Claire. Cousin Joe had been my family doctor growing up. As I got older we didn't spend much time together but when I did see him I enjoyed my time with him. He will be very missed!!

Our condolences to the Berger family...Both my husbands parents and my parents took us and our brothers & sisters to Dr. Berger's office for medical care growing up. We in turn took our daughter to him. If we could have taken Dr. Berger with us when we moved we would have taken him. To this day we compare the services we received from Dr. Berger to the physicians we have had over the years. "Dr. Berger they don't make them like you anymore"! We love you and we appreciate you and all the time you gave us, your caring & the compassion that you have shown us.
Dr. Berger you will be sadly missed.

My condolences to the Berger family. Dr. Berger was a fantastic doctor/friend and he will be greatly missed. He was my entire families doctor; I've been going to him since I was 3 years old. I will never forget his kindness and gentleness throughout the years of his practice and beyond. I was at his former practice and they advised me of his passing needless to say I had to take a moment to get myself together. We were not related but I loved him like a grandfather. Dr. Berger was a GOOD MAN! He loved and cared about his patience. When you walked into his practice he treated you like a person and not a number. God Bless.

Dear Berger Family,
Nothing in life can describe the pain of this loss and I send my deepest condolences. I had the pleasure of sharing a classroom with Joe at the medical school every Friday afternoon for nearly 15 years. In my life I have never met a more complete well-rounded, kind and caring person. Dr. Berger was the complete package; a consummate family man, physician, and friend to all he met. During class breaks he would always speak so fondly about his family and told me stories of the many activities, adventures, and accomplishments of his children and grandchildren. His descriptions were so vivid and so detailed that I almost felt as though I knew each of you personally. Be comforted in knowing that you were never far from his thoughts or his heart as he was truly proud of his family and enjoyed sharing stories about each of you. My wish for you is that your memories will become a source of joy and laughter as you remember Joe in his better days; days that you shared with him, where he gave each of you valuable pieces of himself, to be yours forever.

You were my Dr since I was little, until you retired. As an adult I searched for a Dr. that's reminded me of you, but still to this day I haven't. You were so genuine, gentle, nice, and funny! A well rounded man for sure. The last time I saw you was at my grandfathers Birthday(James Nixon), and you looked great. Thank you for being the Dr. you were, and great friend to my family and I. May you Rest In Peace ❤

I'm sorry if this reposted as I dont see my original post.
Dr. Berger was my mentor as a medical student in 1992 and I embody everything he taught me and I use it in practice daily. He was happy to always hear me say that i was the "Dr Berger of North Jersey" as I continue to practice as he did. I am the osteopathic physician I am today because of him. I will miss him professionally and as my friend. My condolences to his family.

Prayers and condolences to the family; he was a special man. I will always remember being comforted by him when, as a young, expectant mother, I was informed that I needed a C-section the day before I was to deliver. Even though he was not to be my surgeon, as my family doctor, he took the time to reassure me by visiting me in the hospital the evening before the surgery. He explained the reasons for the decision making me feel so much less fearful. His taking the time to do this made my husband and I feel more comfortable with what was to happen.

Dr.Berger is the last of the great Dr.'s! I remember waking into his office sick. When he came in the room, he'd say " I saw you come in, your back is out of alignment. He'd crack my back, then treat my illness. He treated me from the time I was a little girl, until he closed his office in Berlin. He will be sadly missed.
