Dad,
You were my first knight in shining armour saving me from the lion that was biting my hair. You were a wonderful man with great morales and values that both you and mom passed on to each of us kids. I am so blessed to have been raised in such a loving home with parents who had so much admiration and respect for each other. You taught us the value of hard work and the importance of education. Your kindness, generosity and love of family lives on through each of us. Thanks for giving me the enjoyment of the beach, the memories of flying with you even if it was just take off and landings, it was time well spent. You taught me to fish which I still enjoy. May we all make you proud each and every day. I will miss your smile and the sound of your voice. I love and miss you!

Patty Ann, Elaine. Bill, Tom, Susan, Beth & Kathleen...there aren't enough words to describe how sorry I am for your loss, just as there aren't enough words to describe what a great Dad you all had! As Kathleen knows there is a reason why I never called him Mr Merichko or Joe... Since I was a kid I called him Dad. He was the closest thing I ever had to a Dad! I love him dearly. I have spent these last few days going through all of my happy memories of him. I hope in the days, weeks & months to come you each find comfort in your memories of him. And know how blessed you were to have him for your Dad. Xoxoxo
