Marty was my mentor and role model for my career in Nephrology. I owe him a great deal for any success I might have had. He was the quintessential, triple threat academic physician, an inspired and inspiring teacher, a skilled researcher and a compassionate clinician. His legacy will live on in the many physicians he trained in both Internal Medicine and Nephrology. I enjoyed reading the anecdotes from his life in the obituaries. I did not know he could sing folk songs. My sincerest condolences to Marian, Meryl, Karen, Dara and David.

Marty was a great teacher a great physician and a great man. He lived his life well for the sake of others. He will be remembered by many but especially all those he trained in medicine
