Fond memories of playing 7 seasons for you Coach, from 1976 through 1979, including 4 seasons on the tennis courts and 3 on the soccer field. You had more passion for your athletes than we realized at the time. There were many moments but one of the fondest was when you spent an entire free period talking to me when you knew I was going through a tough experience. You could have gone somewhere else but you spent your time with one of your student athletes trying to make him a better person. The lessons we were learning weren't just how to win or lose on the field of competition but how to win or lose in life. I never again played more seasons for one Coach and I appreciate your influence.

We enjoyed Dick's company while we were in Florida. He had many interesting stories that he told us. He will be sadly missed.
