RICHARD F. on Aug. 31, 2006 of Laverock; son of William A. Whiteside, Jr. and Eileen Ferrick Whiteside; brother of William A., III (Barbara) Michael P. (Sue), Eileen W. "Muffin" Oppenheimer (Paul), Christopher J. "Gump" (Betsy), Mary W. Carroll (Parker); also survived by 11 nieces and nephews. Relatives and friends may call at Seven Dolors Church, 1200 E. Willow Grove Ave., Wyndmoor on Wed., Sept. 6 at 9 A.M. followed by Funeral Mass at 10:30 A.M. Interment Holy Sepulchre Cem. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Bishop McDevitt High School, 125 Royal Ave., Wyncote, PA 19095-1198 or Wissahickon Skating Club, 550 W. Willow Grove Ave., Phila., PA 19118.

Fond memories of McDevitt hockey '77 and Thanksgiving family football games in Laverock. Great guy, great player, never laughed so much on the ice or in the locker room. Thanks for the memories, Sven.

It's always sad for me when I try to find people who I have performances of, in this case Rick performing in McDevitt's production of Brigadoon from 1978. I'm remastering a lot of these I did sound for that I have recordings of. Rick was a standout comic in this production. His rendition of Jeff Douglas opposite John Keefrider as Tommy Albright continues to make me laugh. Sorry to see he died so young. I'm writing this on March 18, 2024. Thought I would try to find him.

To the Whiteside Family,
Although 30 years have passed since I last saw Rick, his humor, laugh, and spirit will remain with me always. I was saddened to see the notice in LaSalle's Explorer and it took me quite some time to realize that it was Rick. May you be comforted in your loss.
