Mrs Matarazzo and family,
Please forgive me for the belated condolences. I had the honor of getting to meet you and the doctor during the course of his battle. The compassion he had for me as a student, and the ways in which he allowed me to participate in his care, has left an indelible mark on me both personally and professionally. I was deeply saddened to hear of his passing, and I will keep your family in my thoughts.

I have never met a kinder or more compassionate physician than Dr. Matarazzo. I was so very fortunate that he was my doctor. He will be greatly missed. My thoughts and prayers are with his family during this difficult time.

November 30, 2011

I was one of Dr.Matarazzo's first patients and he actually saved me from getting a colostomy at the age of 26. He is the best doctor I have ever had and will always be grateful for him saving my life. I was extremely sad when he stopped practicing at Jeanes Hospital and lost touch but I will never forget him. My prayers and condolences to the family. Mary Lamb (Philadelphia, PA)

Dr. Matarazzo was an amazing man. His humor was uplifting. I became acquainted with him when I worked at Jeanes Hospital in the 1980's, then later at Nazareth Hospital. He will be missed. My condolences to his entire family.

Steven and I have been friends since we were 14 years old. I am in shock of his passing. We spent many nights on double dates, at Mrs. Brill's summer house in Ocean City. Steve was one of a group of our guys who became doctors. Steve, who suffered from GI problems himself, dedicated his life to being the best Gastroenteroligist he could be. He loved to laugh at my jokes, I remember one night in Ocean City , I had him laughing so hard, the neighbors were complaining they could't sleep.

Now Steve joins George Evans as the second person of "our" group to pass away. I can still see his handsome face as we walked up to Bonner from the trolley stop. All the girls thought he was a cutie, and he was. Rest in peace Steve, the members of our group and our families will never forget you.

Dr. Matarazzo was my doctor and a friend. He saved my life when I was so sick with Crohns disease and kept me well for many years. I am an RN and saw him at the hospital when I was working, so I found him after he changed practices. I will miss him greatly. He was always proud of his family, his friends and his Italian, which he had learned recently. Rest in peace.

Dear Mary and Family,
My sincerest condolences at this time of great sorrow. Dr. Matarazzo was an amazing, genuine, down to earth, generous man. I was so lucky to have him touch my life at such an impressionable age. He will be missed terribly.

I was a patient of Steve's and as an RN/JD, I can honestly say he was one of the best. He had an amazing bedside manner and truly cared about his patients. He was my ideal of a physician. My deepest sympathies to you and your family.
