TERRY KIESERMAN Obituary

KIESERMAN
TERRY (nee Feldman)

Died peacefully on April 19, 2017, at 89. Growing up in Brooklyn, NY (parents Harry Feldman and Shirley Weledniger), she was very close to her many cousins, aunts and uncles. She held many day jobs, (including as a hand model), going to Brooklyn College at night. She received a scholarship to the University of Pennsylvania, School of Social Work, earning a MSW. Terry worked in community service helping blind children navigate the world, setting up foster homes for abandoned children and keeping in touch to ensure they were safe.
After marrying her husband of
40 years, Jack J. Kieserman, a podiatrist who predeceased her 23 years ago, she accepted a position with the Montgomery County Family Service to help people in her community. Later she established a private practice to help couples and individuals to have happier lives. Living in Norristown, Terry and Jack supported civil rights, racial integration, and promoted tolerance. They hosted foreign students, were very active in Great Books, and traveled in a camping van all over the United States. Terry enjoyed writing and teaching journal writing in adult education and adored her grandchildren. She volunteered for American Red Cross blood drives. In retirement she developed a passion for bicycling - over 100 miles a week, and led weekly bicycle trips throughout Montgomery County.
She is survived by her daughters Hydie Miller (Dr. Michael Miller), Andrea Bennett (Dr. Ian Bennett), and a son Dr. Stefan Kieserman (Dr. Karen Kieserman), and grandchildren Laura (Dave Grossman), Julia, Zander, Jeni, Dean, Sophie and great-granddaughter Victoria. Her family loves and misses her greatly. Memorial contributions may be made to the National Multiple Sclerosis Society, http://www.nationalmssociety.org/Chapters/PAE

My parents(Leon and Sylvia Horowitz) were very good friends with Terry and Jack for many years. I last saw Terry with my husband and two of my sons at a chinese lunch at the Plymouth Meeting Mall when I moved back to PA in 2005. I tried to phone her a few weeks ago when I was in Philly for job training. The # was disconnected and I feared the worst. Here's to the memories and may she rest in peace. P.S. It was Terry's influence on me that made me decide on being a social worker and on becoming a family therapist. Here's to Terry.

We lived at Timberlake with Terry. She was an amazing woman! Full of spunk and energy. She was a joy to talk with and we always enjoyed her youthful presence. She will be remembered ever so fondly.

Terry was my first cousin. We grew up in the same house in Brooklyn. Her parents(my aunt and uncle) died early but she worked hard to finish her education and support herself. She was a lot of fun and fortunately visited me in California so we kept a close connection. She made my son Peter feel like he had a second home and family on the East coast. We loved her and she will be greatly missed. Myrna Tokofsky

I have wonderful memories of visiting the Keiserman's house in Norristown when I was a child and my grand parents were friends with Jack and Terry. Terry will be missed!
