THOMAS F. III, age 57, of Tampa FL died Mon., Dec. 29, 2003. Mr. Gannon was born in Portland OR. He came to Tampa 7 years ago from southern NJ and also had resided in Huntsville AL and Phila PA during his lifetime. He was the newly elected commander of The Jewish War Veterans of the United States of America, Albert Aronovitz Post #373, Tampa. Prior to to coming to Tampa, Commander Gannon served 21 years in the US Army. His military service began with 7 years in the Army Chemical Corps, first in Huntsville AL and later in Camden NJ, between the years of 1966 to 1973. Subsequent to that, he joined the 50th Armored Division of the NJ National Guard in the capacity of forward observer in The Fire Integration Support Team (FIST). He later served in the only National Guard Army Battle Lab, housed in Ft. Dix NJ. There he trained soldiers in computer guided warfare. His extensive background as a computer programmer/analyst made him an invaluable resource for the Battle Staff Training Branch during Desert Storm. Mr. Gannon was a computer consultant and while residing in Phila, he was senior programmer and analyst with Rohm & Haas Co. He was a former member and house manager at Congregation Ner Tamid in Voorhees NJ. He was preceded in death by his father, Thomas F. Gannon Jr.; survivors include his devoted wife of 19 years; Judith Sabghir Gannon; his beloved mother, Margaret 'Marne' R. Gannon, Huntsville AL; brothers and sisters-in-law, Patrick Gannon, Chelmsford MA and Patrick's wife, Marsha Gannon of Incline Village NV, K.C. and Debbie Gannon, of Lewisville TX, Kim R. Gannon, Huntsville AL; sisters and brother-in-law, Molly and Gary Alter, Manchester MO and M.E.G. Gannon Brooks, Birmingham AL and The Sabghir family; his cherished step-daughter, Aleeza Zeiger, Cheshire CT; in-law, Aaron S. and Ferol Sabghir, Boca Raton FL; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Naomi and Allen Zeiger, Phila PA, David S. Sabghir, Brooklyn NJ and Jonathan and Nadene Sabghir, of Coral Springs FL and 22 nieces and nephews. Funeral Services were held Fri. at The Torchinsky Hebrew Funeral Home in Washington DC; followed by Interment with military honors at Mt. Lebanon Cemetery.
