I was so sorry to hear about the passing of Walter, I have been shopping at Rieker's since moving to Fox Chase 11 years ago, I remember a time a came in to the store and he was cooking something on the stove, he asked me to come back and try it, he was very personable and I will miss seeing him behind the counter expertly slicing a delicous cut of meat....and asking me what I want to make my husband for dinner....my condolences to the Rieker Family.

What a wonderfully kind and ebuillant man Walter was. Walking into the store when he was there was like coming home - always a smile and a huge hello. The world is a darker place because of his passing.
My deepest sympathy to the Rieker family. Know that I hold you in my prayers and in my heart.

We are very saddened by the loss of a good friend and tradesman. It was always a pleasure to drive from Allentown just to do our German provision shopping. I used to travel from Harrowgate Park with my mom to Riekers market when I was a little girl. We chouldn't wait to go home to eat all the things we bought. Later when I moved to Fox Chase, I got to see him more and enjoy his friendly nature and his fine meats. I swear I gained 10 lbs. moving so close to his store, but I'm not complaining. I will miss our friendly "hellos" and his instructions on how to cook to make my husband smile. To his sweet wife, daughter and his son and his entire family, I will always keep you in my thoughts and prayers and I'm sure he will be sadly missed by everyone he ever met. He was one of a kind. Don't make them like him anymore.

Mr. Rieker was such a passionate businessman and he loved to promote his fine meats and the newest ideas he had for meal ideas. It was clear that he knew his customers and was always attentive to them whenever they came into his store. He also clearly loved his family and kept working past his retirement to help with the business he created for them. We will miss seeing him behind the counter each saturday.
