Anna Toppa Obituary
She was born in Detroit on Jan. 7, 1930 to the late Duncan and Vera (Maloney) McDonald. Anna graduated from Immaculata High School in Detroit. She married Arthur James Toppa on Nov. 11, 1950 at Christ the King Church in Detroit, and together they raised their beautiful family.
Anna worked as a Dental Assistant for Dr. Schumann Dentistry in Redford Township for 25 years until her retirement. In 1988, they relocated to Oscoda to enjoy their retirement in Northern Michigan.
Anna enjoyed knitting, playing bingo, cards and the lottery, watching any Michigan sports team and most importantly, spending time with her family. Anna was also a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church for nearly 35 years.
She is survived by her children, Carole (Joseph) Davio, Art (Tracey) Toppa, Julie (Randy) Patterson, Mary Ann (Robert) Huddas and James Toppa; grandchildren, Andrew (Emily) Davio, Nicholas Davio, Dawnne (Bryan) Smith, Brian Patterson, Anne Patterson, Laura (Ryan) Ammel, Kaitlyn Gasque, Lindsay Toppa, James Toppa; and eight great grandchildren.
Anna was preceded in death by her husband, Arthur J. Toppa; sisters, Carolyn Moreau and Margaret Boes; and grandsons, Steven Davio and Derek Toppa.
The family will welcome friends on Friday, Sept. 15, from 10 a.m. until the time of Mass beginning at 11 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Oscoda. Interment will take place in Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery.
Memorial contributions can be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, The Epilepsy Foundation or to Compassus Hospice. You may offer your condolences online to the family at www.bureshfuneralhomes.com.
