William Harris Obituary

William (Bill) Thomas Harris was born in Omer to Bertram and Allene Harris on Jan. 30, 1952. He passed away on July 20, 2021
He attended and graduated from Whittemore-Prescott High School. Bill was a lifetime truckdriver. Bill was an owner-operator and later became a company driver. He was most proud of being a car hauler and "wearing out" a couple of Peterbuilts.
Bill enjoyed fishing on Lake Erie with his buddies Karl (and sons) Elmer and son Terry and numerous other people that would help raise the limit up that they could keep. He enjoyed riding his Harley Davidson motorcycle especially with his brothers. He loved living at Woodlake and knowing most people on his street. He was a helper to anyone who needed it.
He was well liked, including by many children that grew up on his street. He was quick to "race' some kid down the street on foot or bicycle or act goofy to make them laugh. He saw many musicals at the local high school and although he acted like he didn't want to go he delighted in watching Preston get on stage.
Bill was a fighter. When he was diagnosed with colon cancer in 2017 his main focus was returning to work. Six weeks after surgery he climbed back into the truck and worked another 10 months before vascular dementia forced him to retire. He joined the local YMCA and made a whole list of new friends there working out with the "coffee club" as the ladies affectionately called the group.
Bill is survived by his wife of 18 years, Dora Jean, and all the many family and friends that loved him. A special appreciation to Tricia Terry for being there for Bill.
Internment is set for Saturday, Sept. 25 at 11:45 a.m. at Lake Township Cemetery, 3550 Walbridge Rd. Millbury, Ohio. A Celebration of Life will take place immediately after in the community room at Lake Township Hall, 27975 Cummings Rd., Millbury, Ohio.

My condolences to the Harris family. I've known and loved this entire family since I was a young little girl. My Mom & Dad were Bert & Allenes best friends for many years.
I will forever remember sharing my Schwinn bicycle with them and my parents leaving me behind to drive for Ben's surgery.
Bill was kind and funny and though I have not seen him in a tremendous amount of years ~ if memories were prayers he would know he was lived.
Godspeed to each of you.
