Matthew Zampino Obituary

Matthew B Zampino

November 6, 1968 - August 16, 2025

Ridgeland, South Carolina -

Matt was born in Westwood, NJ, to James and Corliss Zampino and spent his early life between Harrington Park, NJ and Hilton Head Island, SC for the holidays. Immediately after graduating from high school, Matt enlisted in the Marine Corps and spent four years as a machine gunner, reaching the rank of corporal. He went on to own and operate "Matt Auto" in Bluffton, SC for nearly 2 decades.

Matt lived a life full of hotrods, Harleys, and everything in between. He was a lifelong Marine, an avid Yankees fan, a talented gearhead, and a good friend to any who needed it. In more recent time you could find him playing with his grandsons, working in the yard, or sitting on the front porch watching a storm go by.

Matt is survived by his loving wife Jill; his two sons Matthew and Michael; stepchildren Steph, Steven, Jason and Ian; grandchildren Wyatt, Everleigh, Logan, and James; his sister Jaime Forbes and her children, Amanda, Steven, and Ben; his daughter Mary, and all of the friends he made along the way.

Please join us at the Island Funeral Home from 10:00 am-12:00 noon on Tuesday, August 26 for his visitation followed by services at Beaufort National Cemetery where he will be laid to rest with military honors at 2 pm. A celebration of life will be held at his residence in Ridgeland, SC after the service.

In lieu of flowers, a donation to tunnels to towers would be appreciated.
