George Lembidakis Obituary

PEABODY - George M. Lembidakis, 87, of Peabody, died on Friday, June 5, 2015 with his family at his side after a brief illness.He was the husband of Chrisanthe J. (Emanuel) Lembidakis, who died this past January. Devoted father to Mary Ward, of Houston, Texas, Joanne Dooley of Beverly and Susan Mentzer of Danvers. Cherished grandfather of his six grandchildren, Benjamin George Ward, Gregory M. Dooley, Adrienne E. Dooley, Joshua Mentzer, Tyler Mentzer and Adam Mentzer, the brother of Nicholas Lembidakis of Medford and the late Emanuel and Charles Lembidakis and sister-in-law Mary Carbone of Lynn.George was born in Boston, the son of Marcus and Maria (Karandanis) Lembidakis He had been employed as a master electrician with General Electric in Lynn for more than 62 years. He also taught at the Peabody Vocational High School and in Boston Public Schools. He earned degrees from Salem State University and Framingham and Fitchburg State colleges, where he received two master degrees, in education and counseling.He was an active member along with his wife at St. George Church in Lynn and later at St. Vasilios Church in Peabody. He was also a Mason with the Boston lodge and was a Navy veteran of WWII and the Korean War. George will most be remembered for his tremendous kindness and passion for his students and his work.Service information: A visitation will be held for friends and family on Tuesday from 9:30 until 11:15 at the CONWAY, CAHILL-BRODEUR FUNERAL HOME at 82 Lynn St., Peabody, followed by services at 11:30 at St. Vasilios Greek Orthodox Church, Paleologos Street, Peabody.
