Saugus - Mr. Lawrence (Larry) Power, age 85, died on Saturday, October 18th. He was the husband of the late Alice "Bunnie" (Pecoraro) Powers.
Born in Boston, Mr. Power was the son of the late William and Katherine (Handran) Power. He was a retired engineer for the G.E. and was previously a postal worker in Newton Junction, NH. He lived most of his married life in Saugus before living in NH for 10 years.
Also known as "The Captain", Larry always had a joke or two up his sleeve.
He was kind and generous to all. He loved his country music. He enjoyed daily beach trips with his beloved wife. Everyone he met became his friend. He will be missed by all. And with regards to Larry's favorite quote, "Elvis has left the building".
Mr. Power is survived by his daughters, Diana Burkett and her partner Gregory Curley of Saugus, and Stacey Warren and her husband Ken of FL, and ten grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren, and nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his son, Christopher Powers. He is also survived by his Sennott family cousins. Known as Papa Larry, he is survived by Maddox, Lily, and Eva.
Service Information: A chapel gathering will be held at Puritan Lawn Memorial Park, 185 Lake St., Peabody on Wednesday October 29th from 10:00 am - 11:00 am, followed by a graveside service at 11:15 am. For condolences www.BisbeePorcella.com.
