Mary L. Benevento

SWAMPSCOTT -- Mary Louise "Weezie" (Pagnotta) Benevento, 91 years, of Swampscott, died on Friday, Feb. 22, 2019 in the Devereaux House in Marblehead after a long illness. She was the wife of the late William Benevento. She was born in Swampscott, the daughter of the late Michael and Minnie Pagnotta. She was raised in Swampscott, and lived in Swampscott all of her life. She was a graduate of Swampscott High School. She worked at Durkee-Mower, the makers of Marshmallow Fluff. Weezie loved to cook and looked forward to preparing Sunday and holiday dinners for family and friends. She loved her nieces, nephews and all children, showering them with love. She enjoyed going to the beach by sharing her picnic lunches and making memories with friends.  The family would like to express their gratitude to the staff at the Devereaux House for the great care given to Mrs. Benevento. She is survived by a son, William Benevento of Swampscott; and a daughter, Janet Taylor and her husband Dallas of Methuen; a sister, Teresa Vatcher and her husband Howie of Swampscott. She also leaves several nieces, nephews and cousins. She is the sister of the late John Pagnotta and the late Katy Valleriani. Service information: Her memorial service will be held on Friday, March 1, 2019 at 10 a.m. in the SOLIMINE Funeral Home, 67 Ocean St. (Route 1A), Lynn. Burial in Swampscott Cemetery. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited.
