Carol Stuart Obituary

Carol Stuart, age 71, of Montcl air passed away Friday, Sept. 29, 2006 at her home where she was lovingly cared for by her daughter Karen. Carol was born on November 20, 1934 in Texarkana, Texas. She was raised in Idabel, Oklahoma. She was a caring compassionate daughter, mother, Nana, and friend to all those that knew her. She was widely known for her generosity and her love of giving gifts to her family and friends. Carol enjoyed numerous hobbies including cooking, gardening, reading, bird watching, doll collecting, and photography. She loved traveling with her friends and family, which included trips to Hawaii, Mexico, Arizona, and to see her family in Colorado and Oklahoma. She retired after 25 years of State service with the California Department of Corrections. She spent the latter part of her career working at the California Institution for Men in Chino. During her career with CDC she made many wonderful lifelong friends. Carol was an avid fan of the theater. She had many wonderful childhood friends and she recently attended her 5 0th High School Reunion in Idabel. She was preceded in death by her father, Waymon Canant and her brother, Gerald Canant. She is survived by her mother, Nancy Canant ,age 98, of Idabel, Oklahoma and her children, Nancy Hartman (Gary) of Westminster, Colorado; Joyce Bernatzke (Kurt) of Rancho Cucamonga; David Stuart of Phoenix, Arizona; and Karen Stuart of Montclair. She was greatly loved by her six grandchildren, Rachel Hyatt of Houston, Texas; Heather, Carolyn, and Stacy Hartman of Colorado; and Troy a nd Kori Bernatzke of Rancho Cucamonga. She was also blessed with seven great grandchildren, Devin, Ethan, Tyler, Caleb, Kiara, Ariah, and Carter. Services will be held at Draper Mortuary, Ontario with viewing from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, October 5, and memorial service on Friday, October 6 at 1:00 p.m. Burial will be at Bellevue Memorial Park in Ontario.
