CHARLENE McPHETRIDGE Obituary

passed away peacefully in her own home in Corona Del Mar on October 12, 2010. She was a trusted mentor to many, a loving mother, an adored nana, a cherished friend and a loved one. Born March 20, 1935 and raised in Madison, Wisconsin, Charlene moved to California while a teenager and remained here ever since. A long time resident of Upland California, Charlene and her husband Dale owned and operated Key Real Estate before moving to Corona Del Mar in the early 1990's. Charlene is well known for her stalwart commitment to philanthropic service: she had actively served both in Assistance League of Pomona Valley and Assistance League of Newport Mesa, acting as Chapter President and serving in other board positions in addition to serving as a league representative at the national level. An adventurer and world traveler many times over, Charlene also loved the thrill of sailing and the calm of cruising with Dale. Charlene embarked upon many an adventure with her family and cherished the good company of many, many beloved friends whom she tenderly cultivated throughout the years in both near and distant places. Her famous smile and her well known kind and loving nature have left us all the more blessed to have shared this precious time in her company. Charlene is survived by her children Sean McPhetridge (Kirstin), Lori Sheridan (Kevin) and Kym Chapman; her most cherished grandchildren Erica and Erin DiCarlo, Heather and Brittany Chapman and Cole Lindsay; her loving companion Michael McCann; family member Richard Murray, her brothers William (Lynn) Copeland; Gilbert (Tomi) Taylor, Phillip (Bonnie) Taylor; and her mother E. Faith Taylor. She was predeceased by her husband Dale McPhetridge in April 2009. Charlene will be returned to the sea she so loved so well. The family will be hosting a celebration of her life for family, friends and loved ones on Friday, October 29 at 2:00 p.m. at her home in Corona Del Mar. Any tribute to her memory may be to any charity of your heart or to Seasons Hospice of Orange County.

October 17, 2010

I was very saddened to learn of Charlenes passing. She was of a brilliant mind and her love of books was unbelievable. She had more energy than anyone I have ever known. She will be truly missed as she was greatly admired by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
