Gilbert Preciado Obituary

Gilbert "Beto" Preciado
Diamond Bar, CA – Gilbert "Beto" Preciado died Saturday, December 10, 2016 at his home in Diamond Bar surrounded by his loving family. Gilbert was born on May 21, 1932 in Amarillo, Texas. On October 27, 1952, he married Ramona Esquivel, from Canadian, Texas and the two were happily married until his death. Gilbert served honorably in the U.S. Army during the Korean War from 1952 to 1954 and upon his return, Gilbert and Ramona moved to Los Angeles, California. In Los Angeles, Gilbert utilized the G.I. Bill to attend Pacific States University, College of Electrical Engineering and earn his Bachelor of Science degree in Electronic Engineering. While in college, he and Ramona worked together to build the foundation for their family. Gilbert worked full time as a mechanic and Ramona worked full time at an insurance company to provide financial support while Gilbert studied for his bachelor's degree. After graduation, Gilbert embarked on a 34-year career as an electronic engineer primarily spent at Rockwell International, developing and testing navigational systems for missiles and nuclear submarines.
Gilbert is survived by his wife Ramona, his daughters Tana, Monica, and Renee, and his son, Jaime. He is also survived by eight grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. Gilbert was a loving and supportive husband and father, who was proud of his children and grandchildren, and who was always encouraging his family to dream, to achieve and to never give up on their hopes for the future. He touched the lives of his family and friends with his intelligence, quick wit, strength, and belief that everyone he came across could achieve success and happiness in life. Gilbert will be deeply missed by all lives that he touched.
Services will be held at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Pomona at 1150 West Holt Ave. The rosary will be held on Tuesday, December 20 between 5:00 and 8:00 pm. The service begins at 9:30 a.m. on Wednesday, December 21 with the burial immediately thereafter at Riverside National Cemetery.

Ramona and family,
Having uncle Beto in our lives was a blessing. He cared about all his family in Amarillo and always took the time to visit or made plans to get the family together. He was the glue for our family and it will not be the same without him. I will miss him ,but feel privileged to have had him in our lives for all his years. We love you all and will keep, you in our thought and prayers.
