John Mitchell Obituary
August 4, 1964 - May 10, 2013
John Mitchell died in peace on May 10th surrounded by his love, Kari; his brother, Matthew and sister-in-law, Jenny as he lost his long, courageous battle with pancreatic cancer. John was born in NYC and spent his childhood in Scituate, MA. John graduated from Wentworth IT with an Electrical Engineering degree. After college, he joined the US Marine Corps where he became a 1st Lieutenant and a veteran of Desert Storm. John was a financial planner at The Pinnacle Group and served as CEO since 2005. John had many passions: scuba diving, golf, his Porshe, his Chapparal, motorcycles, helicopters and planes. He volunteered at the LB Aquarium. John, an amazing father, shared his many adventures with his only son, JJ. John is survived by his son, John J. Mitchell, III; his parents, John Mitchell (Anne) and Christina Martel; his brothers, Matt (Jenny) and Bill (Desiree); his sister, Rebecca, step brothers, Christopher McCarthy (Dorothy) and Chad McCarthy (Laura), and step sisters, Tara and Seana McCarthy. He is also survived by his longtime life partner and love of his life, Kari Fuhrman Dobson, who was by his side everyday during his long illness. A Memorial Celebration of John's life will be held at the Long Beach Yacht Club on Friday, May 31st, from 12 noon to 4pm. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Catalina Hyperbaric Chamber in memory of John J. Mitchell, 1 Big Fisherman Cove, P.O. Box 5069, Avalon, CA 90704 or www.chamberday.org. This came up on my emails have to say you were a sweet man, only met you a few times, but I could tell. Your brother Bill has said many times his son Brody is so much like you. Being his grandparents I sure hope Brody is the sweet , caring man you were. I know your entire family misses you but with great love comes great sadness.

I'm shocked at this very sad news. John was my first manager in the financial services and I would not have succeeded without his guidance and friendship. He always had time to help and that is uncommon today with our busy world. I will miss him a lot, Desmond

We are very saddened by John's death. The loss of such a vital and caring young man is very difficult to understand. We grieve with his family and friends as they deal with this loss.
