JOSEFA MARQUEZ Obituary

With sadness, we announce the death of Josefa Carnero Marquez. Josefa was born on March 19, 1932, in Julimes, Chihuahua, MX.
Her parents, Luceano and Librada raised a young girl who enjoyed, el monte, with her father. They fished, hunted, and trapped for furs, spending nights under the stars to the howls of the coyotes. Josefa labored in the packing shed in the 1960s and 70s, migrating to northern California in the summers. She had many stories of the adventures endured during those harsh summers. Like many mothers of that era, she labored during the day and came home to raise a family. She was honored to have earned her United States Citizenship in 1989.
With lots of love, Josefa raised six children, Margarita Marquez, Miguel Marquez (Norma), Daniel Marquez, Samuel Marquez (Sandra), Pedro Marquez, and Ismael Marquez. She tragically lost Ismo in 2008. As she wished, Ismo and Mom will be joined together in interment. In 2019, Daniel went ahead to save a spot for mom. She is survived by her longtime companion Federico; 19 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren, with one expected on December 22, 2024; and 5 great-great grand children.
Viewing and Rosary will be held on November 20, 2024, from 6 to 9 p.m. at Hems Brothers Mortuary in El Centro. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated the following day at 10 a.m. at Our Guadaulupe Catholic Church in El Centro.

A dear lady with a wonderful family. My sympathy, may your happy memories comfort you. I was welcomed into her home, I worked with her daughter Margaret and our friend Portia at EDD for a time span of 13 years.
