Husband, father, and friend to many, Josue (Josh) Rivera Lopez died at the age of forty on December 23, 2021 in San Diego, CA. He was surrounded by his loving family at his bedside when he passed.

He was born in Long Beach, CA on January 5, 1981. Josh served his country for four years as a proud member of the United States Marine Corps. He was honorably discharged in 2007.

His family was by far the most important and precious part of his life. He loved nothing more than having fun with his family. Josh enjoyed taking them on camping trips, family reunions, and other family adventures.

Josh had a lifetime love of sports. He excelled at both wrestling and football at Imperial High School, from where he graduated in 1999. Later, he gave back by being a wrestling coach at the school. He was a diehard Green Bay Packers fan and an avid golfer.

Josh and his family attended the Cornerstone Community Church in Holtville, CA and volunteered with the Children's Church. As a boy, he was an altar server at St. Anthony's Church in Imperial, CA.

One never needed to ask him for help, as it was his nature to take the initiative on his own. While Josh was also known for his performances on Karaoke night (props included), and always having his Yeti cup of iced tea in hand, he will be best remembered for being high-spirited, warm-hearted, and certainly for his engaging smile.

He was preceded in death by his nephew, Anthony Allen Castleberry.

Josh is survived by his devoted wife, Monica; three daughters, Madalyn, Eliana, and Abigail; father, Miguel Lopez; mother, Virginia Rivera (Wayne) Scott; sisters, Isabel Starck Lopez and Michelle Lopez; brother, Charles Scott; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Mark and Betsy Carlos; brother-in-law, Armando Romero and a large extended family.

Viewing will be held on Monday, January 10, 2022 at 9 a.m. At Christ Community Church in El Centro. Service will begin at 10 a.m. Luncheon to follow burial at Christ Community Fellowship Hall. Burial to follow at 12 p.m. At Evergreen Cemetery in El Centro.
