I first met Sharon in 1981 when we both worked at San Diego Regional Center. We became fast friends and our friendship continued throughout the years. Sharon was an incredible friend whose infectious laugh and beautiful smile lit up a room. She had an indomitable spirit and tbe kindest heart. I miss her so much! . RIP my dear friend! ❤❤❤

Dearest Sharon:
When we first met @ the Rolando apartments in 1977, I was so impressed by you and your sister, Susan, that I didn't feel worthy to be your friend! You were both so kind and friendly and sweet. Over the years, I grew to love you both! I was not brought up in a family that demonstratively showed our affection or said I love you much, so when you started saying love you when we were saying goodbye or signing off on the phone, at first, it felt funny, but before too long I looked forward to these words. Thank you for teaching me this! I can honestly say you were my favorite roommate, maybe because it was only for six months, lol. After insisting you could commit to stay for at least a year, you met Sean and he whisked you away to be his bride.
I remember that first ski trip with the gang in Lake Tahoe in 1982 where you fell and injured your knee. Although you suffered on and off after that with recurring problems from it, you persisted and went back skiing over and over again. I have many wonderful memories of being on the slopes together and also of hiking in Yosemite with you while you wore the knee brace. I'll always remember how you wanted to get the professional photograph at Tahoe one time, and I wondered why you wanted to spend the money on it, thinking we could just have someone take a picture of us. You insisted I pose in a particular way, instructing me to place my feet just so, and then you got in position for the shot. I felt, Why are we making a big deal out of this, but now that picture is one of my fondest possessions as a memory of all the fun we had in the good ole days.
You were a perfectionist. It showed in your devotion to your job, helping the developmentally disabled, and it showed in the way you dressed and were always so well accessorized, the signature chic beret, and the glamorous shoes and boots, OMG! You were a class act.
Oh, how I will miss the phone calls when you would be passing through San Diego on the way to El Centro, saying, Hi, Girlfriend! How is Boyfriend? my husband, John. How is Brown Eyes? my dog, Peanut, who loved to try to sneak into your room when you stayed with us. I so looked forward to meeting up with you for lunch, which would include visits to some of our favorite hangouts, Nordstroms and/or Macy's.
I'll never forget how devoted you were to Ricky when he was sick and hospitalized in San Diego, using all your vacation and leave time to come be with him, becoming his personal medical advocate, making numerous phone calls to doctors and nurses on his behalf. Of course, when a local news station was doing a story at the hospital, they chose to interview you and Ricky, being drawn to your magnetic personality. And then, again, the same week, as you were doing a quick walk through Fashion Valley Mall, a different local news crew chose you again to interview about the localized flooding around the area. You knew exactly the right route to take to get there to avoid any problems.
When you were staying with us one time, I recall you suggested to me I should be nicer to my husband, haha. My first reaction was to tell you that I am in fact nice to him, but then I realized you were just trying to help me out in your caring way so I wouldn't have to experience a painful divorce, and perhaps you were right. I was so lucky to have a friend like you!
The best time of all was the trip we took to London and Paris. I was hesitant to spend the money to go, but thought at the time, maybe I'll never get an opportunity like this again (unfortunately, how right I was) so I went to help you celebrate your 60th birthday, which we did in your usual animatable style, with mimosas on the London Eye, the world's largest ferris wheel on the River Thames, and then on to Paris! Wow, it was a trip of a lifetime for me filled with so many special memories. Of course, you made fast friends with absolutely everyone else on the tour with us, knew all their names, and stayed in touch with them afterwards. So here's lookin at you, Kid. We'll always have Paris. May you rest in peace until we meet again. Love you! My sincere condolences go out to
your lovely family.

Sharon I knew through Alta Regional Ctr. in Sacramento. Always a kind word, endering words she often spoke. I will always remember her for her quick wit and forever smile. Always the first to help and assist and never a negative word. I enjoyed working with her for so many reasons, always such a delight. She's a part of a very sweet memory. I pray for the family and loved ones she leaves behind, remembering, she's just a whisper away.
