Clifton H. Lyons

Clifton H. Lyons, 91, of Glendale, AZ, formerly of Lafayette, passed away at 3:45 a.m. on Sunday, February 9, 2014 at Hospice of the Valley in Glendale. Born March 25, 1922 in Glasgow, KY, he was the son of the late John Thompson and Bertha (Earls) Lyons. He honorably served as a Seabee with the U.S. Navy. Clifton married Mildred L. Crowder on January 11, 1941 in Glasgow, KY. She preceded him in death, after 61 years of marriage, on March 6, 2002. He worked in Service Shipping for TRW Ross Gear for 33 years before retiring. He was a member of Kossuth Street Baptist Church where he served as an usher. Clifton enjoyed walking, meeting people, and spending time with his family and friends.

Surviving are his two daughters, Deanna Kay Doty (husband, William) of Phoenix, AZ and Carolyn Sue Brown (husband, James) of Glendale, AZ, his four grandchildren: Cheryl Booth (Harry) of Lafayette, IN, Craig Doty (Eileen) of New River, AZ, Mark Doty of Phoenix, AZ, and Brian Berninger (fiancée, Petra Pittenridge) of Peoria, AZ, and six great-grandchildren: Tyler Doty (Tasha), Kaylee Doty, Quinn Deckard, Luke Deckard, Bella Pittenridge, and Carter Pittenridge. He was preceded in death by three brothers, Earl, Edward, and Raymond, and a sister, Gladys Wheeler.

Visitation 5-8 p.m. Sunday with the service at 10 a.m. Monday at Hippensteel Funeral Home, with Pastor Don Whipple officiating. Burial to follow at Tippecanoe Memory Gardens with military honors.
