Dickie Delaney Obituary
Dickie "Sam" Delaney, 81, of Lafayette, passed away on Saturday, August 12, 2017 at Creasy Springs.
Born April 17, 1936 in Lafayette, Indiana, to the late Clinton and Nellie (Foster) Delaney.
Professionally, Sam worked for Purdue University as a coal handler.
Sam was a huge Cubs baseball and Purdue fan. He enjoyed attending the Indy 500 to watch AJ Foyt race and was a fan of NASCAR driver Tony Stewart. Sam loved to mow the lawn and taking care of the yard.
He is survived by his children, Lois (husband: Tim) Walters of Otterbein, Linda (husband: Ray) Bannister of Monticello, Barbara (husband: Mark) Kuszmaul of West Lafayette, Brenda Delaney of Utah, and Anthony (wife: Christina) Delaney of Veedersburg; eight grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, Sam is preceded in death by his wife Anna, one grandchild, and three brothers.
Funeral service will take place Wednesday, August 16, 2017, 11:00 a.m., at Hippensteel Funeral Home. Friends may call one hour prior to the funeral service. Burial will follow at Tippecanoe Memory Gardens. In lieu of flowers, direct memorial contributions to the Almost Home Humane Society.
