James Jordan Obituary
Lafayette - James T. "Tip" Jordan, 74, of Lafayette passed away at 3:04 pm, Thursday, January 18, 2018 at I.U. Health Arnett Hospital.
He was born April 17, 1943 in Tazewell, TN to the late Alfred and Mae (Jordon) Jordan. He graduated from Claiborne High School and enlisted in the United States Army, serving in Korea during the Vietnam War. He worked as a carpenter at National Homes prior to working and retiring as a mail clerk at Purdue University in 2004. He married Jacky Johnston on February 14, 2005 in Lafayette. She survives.
"Tip" enjoyed fishing, especially in Wisconsin, watching the Chicago Cubs, Bears, and Indianapolis Colts play. He also enjoyed playing cards, especially poker, but above all he cherished time spent with his family, especially his grandchildren.
Along with his wife Jacky, he is survived by his 2 children, Tina Cottrill of Lafayette, James A. Jordan of Lafayette; 2 step-sons, Christopher Furr of Lafayette, Michael Furr of West Lafayette; 4 grandchildren, Elizabeth (Brent) Shalley of Dayton, Jordan Cottrill of Lafayette, Brittany (Casey) Carver of Bristol, TN, Brogan Thornton of West Lafayette; 3 great grandsons, James Cottrill-Frost, Noah Carver, and Caestyn Carver; 6 brothers and sisters, Clayton (Sylvia) Jordan of Nashville, Polly (Irvin) Brown of Tazewell, TN, Nellie (Jerry) Bailey of Maynardsville, TN, William Jordan of West Lafayette, Ronald Jordan of Clarkshill, Donald (Robin) Jordan of Tazewell, TN, and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded by his parents, his first wife Marilyn Wilson, and 5 brothers and sisters, "Cotton", Shirley, Bud, Tommy, and Lucy.
Memorial contributions in Tips name may be given to The Forty and Eight, Nurses Training Program or Child Welfare Program, 1421 Creasy Lane, Lafayette, IN 47905 Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
Visitation will be from 2:00 pm until time of service at 3:00 pm, Tuesday, January 23, 2018 at Soller-Baker Funeral Home, Lafayette Chapel.

I grew up nextdoor to Tina and Jimmy Jordan. I grew to love Tip. He was a sweet man that definetly loved his family. He will forever be missed. My thoughts and prayers are with the family. Rest in Heaven Tip.
