Kim Morris Obituary

Kim J. Morris

West Lafayette - Kim J. Morris (Stromberger), 61, of West Lafayette, passed away Sunday, January 14, 2018 at Seasons Hospice in Naperville, IL. She was born on August, 20, 1956 in Dixon, IL, the daughter of the late Martin J. Stromberger and Joyce (Hoover) Stromberger. Kim married Les Morris, December 1979, for whom she cared with deep love and courage before his passing in 2012.

Kim graduated with a bachelor's degree in Elementary Education from Illinois Wesleyan University. She taught elementary school and college English, and more recently worked as an Admissions Advisor at Ivy Tech in Lafayette, Indiana, where she excelled and delighted in assisting students with career choices and the course of study needed to achieve their dreams.

Kim was a loving wife, daughter, sister, aunt and dedicated mom to her daughters, Kristen (Matthew) Hoch of Chicago and Haley Morris of Indianapolis. Kim loved spending time with her children; enjoying travel, excursions to new places, trying new cuisines, the arts, or just fun time at home creating family memories. Kim will be dearly missed by her friends who knew her to be generous, kind, thoughtful, creative, and a great listener; she was a special friend to many. Kim's personal faith in and relationship with Jesus gave her hope, strength, and peace as she fought a courageous year-long battle with brain cancer.

Kim is survived by her mother, Joyce Stromberger of Naperville, IL, brother, Martin (Julie) Stromberger of Eau Claire, WI, sister Dawn (Ken) Louise of Naperville, IL, and number of beloved nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held Thursday, January 18, 2018 4-7pm at St. Andrews United Methodist Church, 4703 N 50 W, West Lafayette, Indiana with a funeral service on Friday, January 19, 2018 at 2pm at St. Andrews United Methodist Church. In lieu of flowers the family invites memorial donations to be given toward American Brain Tumor Association or St. Andrews United Methodist Church in West Lafayette, Indiana. Kristen, Haley, Marty, Julie, Dawn & Ken - I am so sorry for your loss. I have many wonderful memories of growing up with Kim - many of them at Grandpa & Grandma Stromberger's house. There is comfort in knowing that she is with Les again but our world will be a little darker without her in it. I am so sorry, but I am not going to be able to attend the service. You are all in my thoughts and prayers.

Joyce, Kristen, Haley and family, I am unable to attend services but please know prayers are with you thru this difficult time. Kim was so sweet and she actually gave me my first babysitting experience ever with Kristen. I'm proud to say Kristen did survive however poor of a job I actually did changing her diapers! I always missed Kim and Les after they departed Washington for Indiana. They are 2 people that are gone far too soon and 2 people that will never be forgotten. I'm sorry I can't be there to tell you that in person. Much love, Tami Stromberger

It was with much sadness that I heard the news of Kim's passing. She was at the top of my daily prayer list from the time I learned of her illness. God chose to take her to her forever home where she is now pain free. You are all in my prayers as you travel this road of loss and grief. I pray you feel God's love and the love of so many who care about you.

My heart is so sad that Kim is gone, but I know her fight with cancer had been a long one. She was a sweet and loving person and I know she will be greatly missed by so many. We grew up together as cousins and we were sorority sisters as well. I have many fond memories. Wishing Aunt Joyce, Marty J, Dawn and their families, Haley and Kristen hugs and comfort in the difficult days to come.

Kim and I became close friends in high school. While in college, we worked together at Metamora Twp. High School during the summer months. Our friendship continued and flourished long after that. We did not see each other very often, but when we did, it was like we had never been apart. We stayed in touch through Facebook and I always enjoyed the pictures of Kim with her beautiful daughters, Kristin and Haley. She was so proud of her family. Of course, she came from a great family. Joyce and Marty and Dawn, I am so sorry for your loss. Please take comfort in all the beautiful memories you created together. Kim was special in so many ways and she will be missed.

When Les and Kim married way back in 1979 our entire Caterpillar 3600 Engine Design Section was privileged to attend. At the time Les was a young engineer just starting his career. We were delighted Les had found such a nice girl as Kim to unite with and form a life together. My sincere condolences are extended to his daughters and their loved ones.
