Mike was gone too soon. I think of him often, we had so many good times together. This was one of my favorite times of the year. School was out, we always had a fun picnic or adventure planned on the days we weren't working. Mike, I know you are smiling down on us and still watching over your family, especially all the women in your life. You were so kind to me and your sisters when we were growing up. Rest In Peace my friend, only the good die young.

My thoughts and prayers go out to the Alspaugh family. He would stop by when he was in town eventhough he wasn't a bank rep anymore just to say hi and see how I was. What a great person. You will be missed Mike.

I will always remember Mike as the very nice boy who lived behind me growing up though he would say I lived behind him. We were friends all through our childhood until we lost touch after High School. He had a ready smile and a kind nature. I'm sad he has passed away too soon. Fondly remembered, Jenna

Michael was a great friend and will be missed. He was the type of person who would go out of his way to help someone and make them feel better about themselves. Ironically as I walked through downtown Indianapolis this morning in the rain I had an umbrella that Mike had given me recently. Mike was a very unselfish person and I am blessed to have ever met him. My thoughts and prayers are with Mike's family.

Mike and I were good friends in high school. As often happens, we lost touch. I, unexpectedly, ran into him last Fall. We spent a lovely couple of hours catching up. I am so grateful to have had that visit. I hope that fond memories can help your family get through this sad time.

Dear Alspaugh family and loved ones: I echo Suzanne Jain's comments--Mike was so kind, so much fun, so self-effacing. He had a gift for making others feel comfortable and cared for. We laughed often as kids, whether playing little league baseball or hanging out in the hallways of WL Jr. or Sr. High. His smile and generosity will be missed, and our prayers go out for your comfort and strength. Always, Tim Swensen

I neglected to add my name to the previous message regarding a work colleague. It is here below.

June 18, 2015

I had known Michael for exactly 3 months. I worked with him at Carrington Mortgage Services. He made work fun and made me laugh. I was a newcomer and he helped me get acclimated into the position and shared many life experiences with me verbally. He could converse intellectually on just about any subject. I am 7 years older than him and I felt he was my dad taking care of me. I have never met any one like him and I am extremely disappointed we will not be able to spend more time together. I hope the Lord puts him on his "top shelf" because that is where he belongs in my eyes.

June 18, 2015

Dear Cheryl,
I am so very sorry for your loss. May deep love and care surround you and your family now and in the days ahead.
Love and prayers,
Annette Brehm

Dear Alspaugh Family,

We are so very sorry to hear of the loss of Mike. He made everyone smile growing up and some of my fondest memories are hanging out with Mike (aka "Ross") and our fellow classmates from the WL Class of '79. He was a welcome presence in the Schendel home for several years. Our thoughts and prayers are with your family.
