Patsy Truman Obituary

Patsy Ruth Truman, 93, of Sigel, passed away peacefully at her home, surrounded by her family, on Sunday, March 30, 2025. To her family, she was affectionately known as "Nannie."

She was born on November 22, 1931, to Evelyn and Lewis Painter at Heath Station.

She was a proud graduate of Brookville Area High School.

Patsy met and married the love of her life, Henry "Hank" Truman Jr., who preceded her in death in 1976. She remained the heart and foundation of the Truman family for the next 49 years, working alongside her loved ones at the H. Truman's Store in Sigel, until retiring at the age of 89. Patsy loved greeting familiar faces - many of whom became like family - and deeply appreciated the loyal patronage of her community over the decades.

An active member of Mt. Tabor Presbyterian Church and the Sigel Civic Center, Patsy's commitment to her community was unwavering.

She lovingly supported the lives and milestones of her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Many cherished holidays were spent surrounded by loved ones at "Nannie's" house. Her door was always open, and her heart was always ready to welcome family, friends and the occasional grand-dog.

Patsy lived a life defined by love, strength and selfless service.

As a devoted fan of the Pittsburgh Pirates and Steelers, she never missed a game - win or lose.

She enjoyed watching John Wayne movies, planting flowers, snacking on Peppermint Patties, Oreo cookies and black licorice jellybeans, spending time at The Grove, feeding hummingbirds, and sipping coffee while watching the Hallmark Channel.

Patsy's infectious smile, hearty laugh and quick wit brought joy to everyone she met.

In addition to her husband, Patsy was preceded in death by her parents, Evelyn (McKendree) and Lewis Painter; and her brothers, Jim, Lyle and his wife, Lolagene, and Dennis Painter.

She is survived by her children, Vicki (Larry) Smith, Tim (Jackie) Truman and Ted (Stacey) Truman; grandchildren, Mickey, Dave, Nathan, Nikki, Megan, Rob, Henry, Olivia, Makenna, Tighe, Kristy, Taite and Julia; great-grandchildren, Hadley, Mia, Patric and Satchel; and two sisters-in-law, Kathy (Dennis) Painter and Cathy (Jim) Painter.

Family and friends will be received on Friday, April 4, 2025, from noon to 8 p.m. at McKinney – d'Argy Funeral Home, located at 345 Main Street in Brookville.

A second viewing will be held on Saturday, April 5, 2025, from 10 to 11 a.m. at Mt. Tabor Presbyterian Church, located at 7230 Route 36 in Sigel. A funeral service will follow at 11 a.m., officiated by Pastor Donna Jarrell.

Burial will take place at Mt. Tabor Cemetery in Eldred Township, Jefferson County.

Memorial contributions may be made in her name to the Sigel Civic Center, P.O. Box 54, Sigel, PA 15860; Mt. Tabor Presbyterian Church, P.O. Box 54, Sigel, PA 15860; or to a charity of one's choice.

Patsy, was the foundation of Sigel. Truman´s Store and Truman family has so many treasured childhood memories. Patsy was my "Brownie Leader" she had meeting at her home. I still remember the core values and crafts, baking , projects that we did. She was the heart of the Civic Center, very precious & treasured lady. She will be truly missed! Her smile and laughter was contagious.
