Jackson Truman Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Skinner Funeral Home - Lansing on Mar. 2, 2026.
Jackson Patrick Truman of Mason, Michigan, age 19, was tragically taken from this world too soon on February 27, 2026.

Jack entered this world on a snowy morning, October 12, 2006; the firstborn child of Scott Kenneth and Jennifer Anne Truman.

Jack was a 2025 graduate of Mason High School. Jack was a Third Degree Black Belt in Tae Kwon Do, achieving his First Degree at the young age of 9 ½, one of the youngest first degree black belt holders in Michigan. Jack loved music and his taste was eclectic - classic rock, country, alternative and rap. He loved it all. He and his Grandma Hector even challenged each other with Beatles trivia. Jack was pursuing a career in auto mechanics as he was particularly knowledgeable and clever with all things mechanical which started as a toddler following his Grandpa Hector around the farm, yanking and installing pieces and parts into farm equipment and proficiently operating all the farm tractors and backhoes by the age of twelve, to rebuilding his "goose chaser" go-cart with his dad, to replacing the engine in his classic 1986 Oldsmobile Cutlass with his buddies.

Jack was a hard worker, helping anyone who asked. He especially enjoyed working around his aunt and uncle's campground, tinkering on boats, installing docks and always providing excellent customer service. Jack was employed by Thompson's Garage of Mason as an automotive technician and had plans to achieve Master Mechanic level in his studies.

If Jack's family could define the values, significance and magnitude of Jack's short life, it would be to tell you about his heart for people – particularly those with special needs – and his ability to talk and get along with just about everyone. He was respectful to his elders, overly well-mannered, possessed a remarkable work ethic and had a knack for listening and caring. Jack was funny and had a fondness for "Dad Jokes". His laughter could be heard a mile away but what captured your heart immediately were his beautiful eyes, gorgeous hair, sincere smile, unbelievably boundless energy and enthusiasm. When Jack gave someone a hug, it was meant to be felt for several weeks.

Mourning the loss of this beloved young man are his parents, Scott and Jennifer Truman, and his precious little sister, Katherine Elizabeth; grandparents Rick and Anne Marie Hector and Janet Cords; great-grandmother, Helen Parkinson; his aunts and uncles, Gary T. Truman, Ian and Brandy Cords, Brittany and Nate Clark, Emzy and Molly Collins, Jen and Paul Lewis, Samara Byrne and Rob Beadle and Greg and Monica Risner; his dear great-uncle and aunt, Jim and Connie Ackerson; "partners in crime cousins" Ben and Ellie Ackerson and so many other cousins and great aunts and uncles; several special friends as well as his four-legged besties, Sunny, Lucy and Ginger - all of whom he cherished.

Jack was preceded in death by grandfathers Patrick Cords, Gary K. Truman, and Emzy Collins; grandmothers Verna Truman and Diane Tompkins; great-grandparents Edwin Cords, Virginia Strahan, Monroe and Dorothy Collins, William Parkinson and Robert Dean and Mary Jane Hector.

A celebration of Jack's life will be held at 2:00 P.M Sunday March 8, 2026 at The ROC 1706 W Dansville Rd, Mason, MI 48854 with visitation and dinner to follow.

Those who wish may make contributions as a scholarship will be established in memory of Jack to benefit Automotive Technology students at the Wilson Talent Center. Donations can be made to The Wilson Talent Center, 611 Hagadorn Road, Mason, MI 48854 in Jack's name.
