Charles Parker Obituary

Charles "Chuck" Parker

January 23, 1939 - November 2, 2024

CHARLESTON - Charles "Chuck" Parker, went to his heavenly home on November 2, 2024 with his family by his side.

Chuck was born on January 23, 1939 in Westfield, IL, the only child of Alan and Audrey (Garver) Parker. He grew up in Westfield until his junior year when his family moved to Charleston. He attended Charleston High School where he became a standout basketball player. After graduation from high school, he began his building career as an apprentice carpenter in Elgin, IL where he met his future wife, Barb Franke. They married on September 12, 1959 and celebrated 65 years of marriage this year. After he completed his apprenticeship, he began building bridges all over the state working for O'Neill Brothers. His biggest accomplishment with them was being the superintendent in the construction of the Findlay Bridge.

In 1975 Chuck and Barb began their 40 plus year home building career by starting Parker Construction which later became Luxury Homes, Inc.

He will always be remembered for his fairness, kindness, generosity, dry sense of humor, and willingness to help someone in need. His love for his family was unwavering and he will be missed by his family immensely.

He is survived by his wife Barb Parker of Charleston, IL; two children, Tim (Paula) Parker of Charleston, IL and Deb (Tony) Walden of Charleston, IL; five grandchildren, Lindsie (Andrew) Hass, Megan Parker, Sean Parker, Cody (Hannah) Walden, and Lee (Kayla) Walden; and five great-grandchildren, Mila Hass, Beau Hass, Jordan Walden, Camden Walden, and Lennox Walden. He is preceded in death by his parents, Alan and Audrey Parker.

Visitation will be held on Friday, November 8, 2024 from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m. at Adams Funeral Chapel in Charleston, IL. Funeral services will follow at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Don Pankey officiating. Burial will be at Roselawn Cemetery in Charleston, IL.
