Travis Gross Obituary

MARTINSVILLE - Travis Eugene Gross, 22, of Martinsville, Illinois passed away at 5:29 a.m. on Tuesday, March 18, 2008 at Carle Foundation Hospital in Urbana, Illinois following an automobile accident. He was born May 27, 1985 in Terre Haute, Indiana to Durward Eugene and Iona Schiver Gross. He is survived by his loving and devoted parents, Durward and Iona Gross of rural Martinsville, Illinois, his sister, Tracy Goble and husband Stuart of Westfield, his nephew, Marshall Dillon Goble of Westfield, Illinois; maternal grandparents, Marge and Justin Wible of Canyon Lake, TX; Gene and Wanda Schiver of Casey, Illinois; aunts, Ginger Vreeland and husband Dan of Royalton, Illinois; Kathy Whitehead and husband Robert of Canyon Lake, TX; Angie Goodman and husband Mark of Casey, and Mona Coberly of Houston, Texas; uncle, Frank Schiver and wife Linda of San Antonio, Texas; special friend, Dasha Cobble and her daughter, McKinleigh of Charleston, Illinois and many great aunts, uncles, cousins and a host of good friends. His paternal grandparents, Eugene and Marion Gross and one cousin, Roger Coberly preceded him in death. Travis worked in carpentry with his father. He was an avid outdoorsman and loved to cook what he hunted. He would have been starting his dream job working for an outfitter, hunting guide in Idaho this May. He enjoyed going to the Moonshine Store with his father as a child. Travis was a 2003 graduate of Casey Westfield High School and a 2005 graduate of Lake Land College with a degree in Construction Technology. He was an active member of the New Hope Cumberland Presbyterian Church of Yale, Illinois and the Cottonwood Community Center. We will all sadly miss his loving smile and twinkling brown eyes. Travis also gave the gift of life by being an organ donor and loved to lend a helping hand in anyway he could. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, March 21, 2008 at the Willow Creek Cumberland Presbyterian Church, 6492 E. 400th Rd., Martinsville, Illinois with Rev. Chris Parr officiating. Burial will be in the Willow Creek Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 4 - 8 p.m. on Thursday, March 20, 2008 at the Markwell Funeral Home, 200 N. Central Ave., Casey, Illinois. Memorials may be made to the New Hope Cumberland Presbyterian Church Building Fund, 20992 N. 2175th St., Yale, IL 62481. Memorial tributes may be sent to the family at www.markwellfuneralhome.com. I am so sorry to hear about Travis. I didn't know Travis that well, But what i do know about him is that he is a nice & respectful young man. He has a good soul (you could just tell). I am very happy that Dasha & Mckinley got to have him in their lives. I wish they would of had more time to spend with him. Please just know that he is now truly happy. He will never have pain again. & one day you will get to see him again. My prayers are with Travis, all of his family, & friends. May God help you & wrap his loving arms around you all.
