Mary Crismon Obituary
Mary Francis Crismon, 88, of Attica passed away January 18, 2025. She was born November 27, 1936, and was the second of nine children born to the late Fred & Geannendle (Rose) Crismon. All of her eighty-eight years lived in the Attica and Pocahontas area.
Mary graduated from Maynard High School in 1955 and immediately went to work at the Brown Shoe Factory in Pocahontas. She was a dependable employee until the factory closed in 1995. When she found out that the factory would be closing, she began working part-time at Walmart then went full-time. She retired from Walmart in 2009.
Mary was an avid St. Louis Cardinal Baseball fan and seldom missed a game on TV. In her younger years she enjoyed archery and playing softball, but most of her free time was spent with family or church activities. She loved to host family events and especially enjoyed baking and candy making.
For many years Mary was a faithful member of Oak Grove Baptist Church, Attica. She taught a youth Sunday School Class, but didn't stop at just "teaching." She planned and hosted youth hayrides, wiener roasts and parties and took a carload of kids to the associational youth rallies each month. It seemed like most of the sixteen-year-olds in Attica at that time took their driving test in her car.
When she moved to Pocahontas, she began attending First Baptist Church, and she continued serving the Lord there. She worked in the church nursery, the bus ministry, and Awanas. On any given Saturday you would see her on the phone calling all the bus riders. Then on Sunday morning she would be on the bus greeting each one. She was also a part of the Disaster Relief Team of Current-Gaines Association.
Left to cherish her memory are her brother, Bill Kenneth (Dana) Crismon of Minier, Illinois, three sisters, Alene (Clifford) Gaus and Betty Wallis of Attica and Linda (J.D.) Stake of Searcy and a sister-in-law, Cuca Crismon of Affton, Missouri. She will also be greatly missed by her many nieces and nephews whom she treated like grandchildren. They all adored their doting Aunt Francie.
In addition to her parents, Mary was preceded in death by two brothers, Eddie Crismon and Lonnie Crismon, two sisters, Letain Devore and Edna Ray Phillips and three brothers-in-law, Van Devore, Carl Phillips and Sherwin Wallis.
Visitation will be Saturday, January 25th from 12:00 - 2:00 p.m. at McNabb Funeral Home, Pocahontas. The memorial service will begin at 2:00 p.m. at the funeral home with Bro. Jeremy Bundren and Bro. Morgan Woodard officiating. Interment will follow at Randolph Memorial Gardens with Bro. Wayne Martin in charge of the Committal Service.
