CHERRY VALLEY - Alvin Wayne Ball, 79, died on Saturday, March 19, 2022, in Jonesboro, at the NEA Baptist Memorial Hospital.
Alvin Wayne Ball was born Oct. 8, 1942, in Hickory Ridge to Dallas and Marie Baucum Ball. They moved to Cherry Valley when he was in the second grade, where he spent the rest of his life as a farmer, avid hunter and a member of Cherry Valley Baptist Church.
He spent time working at the Cherry Valley Food Pantry and was an Arkansas Razorback fan.
He was met at heaven's gate by his parents, his sister, Joyce King and husband Jerry, son, Marcus Wayne Ball, his precious granddaughter, Lindsey Ball Parker, and sister-in-law, Patsy Hamrick and husband Tom.
He is survived by his wife, Joan Martin Ball of Cherry Valley; son, Benjamin Wayne Ball and wife Cyndi of Jonesboro; sister, Ann Brietz and husband Charlie of Harrisburg; brothers-in-law, Woody Martin and wife Brenda of Cherry Valley and Wade Martin and wife Martha of Jonesboro; sisters-in-law, Ann Moore Henson and husband Gary of Wynne and Dyanna Crawford and husband Roy of Jonesboro; and great-grandson, Knox Parker of Harrisburg.
Funeral services will be 2 p.m. today, March 22, at Kernodle Funeral Home, with the Revs. Gary Henson and Clayton Homewood officiating.
Visitation was Monday at the funeral home.
Pallbearers will be AJ Martin, Shane Moore, Rick Martin, Scott Martin, Nathan Morris, Marty Hamrick and Morgan Hamrick.
Honorary pallbearers will be Jim Halk, Walter Ragland, Ronnie Reddmann, Harvey Collins and Fred Schweighart.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Cherry Valley Food Pantry, 128 Cross 303, Cherry Valley 72324.
