LAKE CITY - The Rev. Carl Richard Edge, 84 of Lake City, a former Manila resident, passed from this life Monday, March 25, 2024, at his home. Born in Booneville, Miss., and raised in Manila, he was the son of the late William R. and Alpha Mae England Edge and had been a resident of Lake City since 1999.
He was a longtime pastor affiliated with the Church of God. He served congregations throughout Northeast Arkansas and in surrounding communities. Carl enjoyed spending time with his family and fellowshipping with other ministers, as well as hunting and fishing.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Earnest Edge and Jimmy Edge; a sister, Ilene Ashley; two sons-in-law, Ernie Springer and Lee Jones; and a daughter-in-law, Kathy Edge.
He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Stella George Edge of the home; two sons, Steven R. Edge (Dorinda) of Lake City and the Rev. Donnie Edge (Judy) of Hot Springs; three daughters, Laura Edge Jones of Lake City, Lisa Springer of Black Oak and Holly Gallapoo of Lake City; two brothers, Julius Edge of Heber Springs and Donald Edge of Russellville; and a sister, Patsy Mumme of San Antonio.
He also leaves 11 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at the Howard Funeral Service Chapel in Manila with Bishop Terry Watson, Bishop Bill Claypool and the Rev. Linda Brewer officiating. Burial will follow in the Lake City Cemetery.
Honored to serve as active pallbearers will be Casey Springer, Jonathan Springer, Josh Jones, Carl Gallapoo, Caden Springer and Doug Edge.
The family will receive visitors from 6 to 8 this evening, March 27, at the funeral home.
