Thomas (Tom) George Leonard

Thomas (Tom) George Leonard, beloved father, grandfather, brother, and friend, passed away on February 21, 2025 at the age of 73. Born on June 22, 1951 in Chicago, Illinois to the late Thomas and Lorraine (nee Heil) Leonard. He leaves behind a legacy of love, mentorship, and community involvement that touched the lives of many.

A man of unwavering dedication, Tom spent much of his life coaching generations of young athletes in Little League Baseball. His passion for the game, and more importantly for the kids he coached, earned him a reputation as someone who truly cared about developing not only skill but character in his players.

Tom was also known for his deep love of Chicago Cubs Baseball. His loyalty to the Cubs was a source of pride and joy for all who knew him, and his enthusiasm for the team made every game day a special event, often shared with friends and family.

Beyond his love for sports and baseball, Tom was a hardworking and successful businessman. He was proud to own and run his own business, where he built a reputation for honesty, integrity, and hard work. His personable nature made him a favorite among clients and colleagues alike, and he was always ready with a warm greeting and a good story.

A regular at the Pap's Ultimate Grill, he enjoyed spending time with his friends and engaging in lively conversations. He was a social person, always ready to lend an ear or share a laugh. His generosity, kindness, and warmth will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

Thomas is survived by his children Amanda Catherine (Richard) LaBarbera and Thomas James Fredrick Leonard, grandchildren Richard Michael LaBarbera, Isabella Jane LaBarbera, his sister Mary Jane (George) Ganas, and his nephews Nicholas Ganas, Tony (Amanda) Ganas and great niece Layla Ganas. He is predeceased by his parents Thomas and Lorraine.

A memorial visitation will be held on Saturday, March 1 from 10:00 am until the time of service at 12:00 pm at G.L. Hills Funeral Home, 745 Graceland Avenue, Des Plaines, Illinois.
