Charles Randolph King
"Charlie" or "Chas" passed away peacefully on Saturday, April 19th in the 19th century Tolland farm house where he lived among cherished reminders accumulated from several generations of the Dimock family.
He was passionate about the history of the Dimock Farm and the preceding generations and relished telling family history stories.
He was born in Stuttgart, Germany on February 16, 1950, a son of Robert Douglas and Phoebe Dimock King, his father was a member of the team of prosecuting attorneys at the Nuremberg Trials after the Second World War.
The family moved to the family's ancestral home on the Dimock Farm in Tolland when they returned from Germany.
Charles was a graduate of Rockville High School, Trinity College and he studied Journalism at the University of Iowa.
He was a gardener, a naturalist, an amateur local historian with a knowledge of genealogy, a voracious reader, excellent writer, a lover of animals and kind and generous with his time.
He leaves three sisters Mary Ellen Via ( Warren) of Kalispell Montana, Susanne King of Atlanta Georgia, Ruth Dianne McHutchison (James) of Haddam Neck, Connecticut and a brother, Geoffrey King (Barbara) of Manchester, Connecticut as well as several nieces, nephews and two great-nieces. He leaves behind many close friends. He was predeceased by his sister Elizabeth Eaton of Houston Texas.
Relatives and friends are welcome to join the family, Saturday, April 26, 2025 from 3 to 5 p.m. with a memorial service following at 5 PM at the Tolland Memorial Funeral Home, 375 Merrow Rd. (Rte. 195), Tolland. A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, April 28th at South Cemetery in Tolland.
