Dorothy Burrows Obituary

Dorothy "Ma" L. (Sargeant) Burrows, 89, of Windsor Locks, and wife of the late Ernest A. Burrows, entered into eternal rest Sunday, Aug. 17, 2014, at home surrounded by her loving family.

Dorothy was born March 3, 1925, in East Randolph, Vermont, the daughter of the late Wesley and Esther (Clark) Sargeant. She enjoyed playing bingo and cards, especially rummy, crocheting, making ceramics, traveling and baking pies, but most of all she cherished the time spent with her family. Dorothy will be deeply missed and remembered as a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.

She is survived by her six children, the Rev. Judith Livesey of Pittsfield, Vermont, Cheryl Wadsworth of Windsor Locks, Michael Burrows and his wife, Maria, of Enfield, Alana Parsons and her husband, John, of Windsor Locks, Kimberly Salvatore and her husband, Fred, of Queen Creek, Arizona, and Debra Freeland and her husband, Joseph, of Pace, Florida; 28 grandchildren; and 43 great-grandchildren. Dorothy also is survived by two sisters, Roberta Rouviere of Chandler, Arizona, and Shirley Sargeant of Columbus, Ohio; a daughter-in-law, Carol Burrows of Windsor Locks; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband, she was also predeceased by a son, Barry Burrows; six brothers, Herbert, Henry, Duane, Homer, Sherwood, and John Sargeant; and three sisters, Mary Bashaw, Mae Goodrich and Patricia Whitman.

Relatives and friends are welcome to join the family on Wednesday, Aug. 20, 2014, from 4 to 7 p.m. at Windsor Locks Funeral Home, 441 Spring St., Windsor Locks.

A funeral services will be celebrated on Thursday, Aug. 21, 2014, at 10 a.m. at the funeral home. Burial will immediately follow in Grove Cemetery.

Memorial contributions in memory of Dorothy may be made to the St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital, 501 St Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105, or to the Hebrew Health Care, 1 Abrahms Boulevard, West Hartford, CT 06117.
