Edgar Clavette Obituary

Edgar "Eddie" Clavette, 96, of Ellington, passed away peacefully Monday, Jan. 18, 2021, at Hartford Hospital.

Born Jan. 18, 1925, in Madawaska, Maine, he was a son to the late Roman and Philomen (Roy) Clavette. He moved to Hartford joined the U.S. Coast Guard in 1942, and served in the South Pacific Theater with the amphibious taskforce aboard the USS Sheliak AKA62 from Guadalcanal to Okinawa. He met the love of his life Cecile Dubay and married in 1949 and were together for 65 years when she passed in 2015. He was a past Post Commander of the Franco-American War Vet Post in Hartford and went on to build a club. Prior to his retirement in 1992, he was co-founder of a three-generation business, Ace Auto Body, Inc. in Hartford. He lived most of his life in Hartford, and after retirement he moved to Crystal Lake in Ellington. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and golfing.

He is survived by two daughters, Diane and Linda Clavette both of South Windsor; and a son Gary Clavette and his wife, Sylvie of Hebron. He also leaves two grandchildren, Stacey Polvere and her husband, Robert of Gainesville, Florida, and Kevin Clavette and his wife, Rachael of Hebron; three great-grandchildren, Lucas Balamucki of Gainesville, Florida, and Roman and Henry Clavette of Hebron. He also leaves a sister, Verna (Clavette) Grivois of Glastonbury. Besides his parents and his wife, he was predeceased by 10 brothers and six sisters

There are no calling hours. A private memorial service and burial will be at a later date.

I'll never forget being at the lake in your boat watching all you older girls trying to get up on water skis. Not to mention ALL of the get-togethers our parents and families had. I remember a lot of laughter coming from both Eddie and Sis. Good memories. And I'm so sorry for your loss, but thankful for his long life.
