John "JR" Raymond Richard, 49, passed away from a tragic accident on March 4, 2024. Born in Enfield, CT on August 1, 1974, he was the son of the late Raymond and Jeanette (Kiejko) Richard. He was predeceased by his brother, Raymond Richard, Jr. He is survived by his twin children, Jenna and John Richard Jr., and their mother, Kathy Malkasian. He is also survived by sisters, Rosemary Colegrove, Kathleen Dziura (Bruce), Lisa Morin (Ed), and brother, Paul Richard (Kim), as well as many aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Raised in Enfield, John graduated from Enrico Fermi High School in 1992. Growing up, John loved baseball and times spent on Crystal Lake. He excelled at skiing and spent many family trips in their cabin in Vermont. Fishing was John's passion. He loved fishing on the Scantic River and taking steelhead fishing trips to Pulaski, New York, with his dad and friends. He spent many years living and working on Cape Cod while enjoying its natural beauty.
John's greatest pride and joy was his role as a father. He cherished his time spent with John and Jenna, imparting valuable life lessons and sharing his love for nature and outdoor activities. John was known for his patience, calm demeanor, sense of humor, and his desire to always help others. John was proud watching his children excel in sports and in life. Cherished times with family include fishing and crabbing on Follins Pond, endless time on the baseball field, family gatherings in Connecticut, and simply enjoying life doing the "little things."
Calling hours will be held on March 16th from 12:30 p.m. -2:00 p.m. at the Leete-Stevens Enfield Chapels, 61 South Road, Enfield. Burial is private. There will also be a gathering of remembrance at Scargo Cafe in Dennis, MA on March 24th from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. In lieu of flowers, a scholarship fund for his children has been set up at this GoFundMe Account: https://gofund.me/1c0a6f31
