Martin Zutter, 74, of Vernon, beloved husband to the late Susan Ladyga-Zutter, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, July 6, 2024. He was born on May 21, 1950, in Thun, Switzerland, and immigrated to the United States in 1957 with his parents, Alfred and Freda (Zurbrugg) Zutter, and his brothers, Walter and Anton "Tony" Zutter, through New York Harbor, but did not go through Ellis Island, as it was closed by then.
Marty is survived by his stepson, Andrew Ladyga and his wife Elicia of Coventry; his close friend, Tammy Szydlo of Vernon; his brother, Walter Zutter and his wife Paula of Stafford Springs; his sister-in-law, Linda Zutter of North Charlestown, NH; his nieces and nephews, Martin Zutter and his wife Andrea and their daughter of Switzerland, Bruno Zutter and his wife Franzi of Switzerland, Carolyn Zolty and her husband Jonathan and their two daughters of West Hartford, Evelyn Chouinard and her husband Rich and their two sons of Stafford Springs, Laura Zutter and her husband John West and their son of Grantham, NH, Brian Zutter and his wife Brenda and their two sons and daughter of Claremont, NH, Bruce Zutter and his wife Patti and their daughter and son of Prior Lake, MN, as well as other family members in Connecticut, former colleagues, and friends. In addition to his wife and parents, he was predeceased by his two brothers, Hans Alfred Zutter and his wife Margrit and Anton "Tony" Zutter; as well as his grandniece, Amanda Lee.
A time of visitation for family and friends will be held on Friday, August 23, 2024, from 5 p.m.-7 p.m. at the Ladd-Turkington & Carmon Funeral Home, 551 Talcottville Rd. (Rte. 83) in Vernon. Funeral services will be celebrated on Monday, August 26, beginning at 11 a.m. at the funeral home. Burial will follow in Valley Falls Cemetery, Vernon.
