Steven D. Brady

Steven D. Brady, 60, of Manchester, son of the late Thomas W. and Elizabeth (Groht) Brady, died unexpectedly on Monday, November 20, 2006, at his home.

Steve was born September 27, 1946, in Manchester, attended local schools and was a 1964 graduate of Manchester High School. He attended the University of Connecticut before enlisting in the U.S. Air Force, serving his country during the Vietnam War. Prior to his retirement, he was employed for many years as a computer programmer for The Hartford and later with Cigna. Steve was a communicant of St. James Church in Manchester. He was a member of B.P.O.E. 1893 in Manchester, and served as Chairman for the Veteran's committee and the Annual Golf Tournament committee. He was an avid sports enthusiast and loved the UConn Huskies, Boston Red Sox and New York Giants.

Steve is survived by his sister-in-law, Caroline Brady of Chatham, N.J.; his aunt, Lucille Geever of Weymouth, Mass.; his cousins, Lynne Moretti and her husband, Joe, of Naples, Fla., Daniel Geever and his wife, Debbie, of Hanson, Mass., Paula Liston and her husband, Ed, of New Port Richie, Fla., and Beth Geever and her husband, Bruce Ellestad, of Lake Oswego, Ore.; his dear friends, Dick and Patricia Varesio of Del Ray Beach, Fla.; and many close and wonderful friends, and his extended family at the Manchester Elks Lodge. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his two brothers, Thomas Brady in 1954 and David Brady in 2006. It was Steven's wish to be cremated.

A Memorial Mass will be held Saturday, January 13, 2007, at 11 a.m. in St. James Church, 896 Main St., Manchester. Burial of his cremated remains with military honors will follow in St. James Cemetery, Manchester.
