William Andrew Elrick, 75, of Enfield, passed away peacefully at home on February 2, 2024.
Bill was born in Hartford, CT and raised in Wethersfield. He attended Bates College and Trinity College (M.Ed.), and was a devoted educator for over 50 years. He taught Social Studies and Language Arts at Windsor Locks High, was the Reading Specialist at South Elementary, and also taught Human Service courses at Asnuntuck Community College.
Bill served on many boards, including the Connecticut State Ethics Commission (Chair). He was a past President of the Windsor Locks Teachers Association, helped build sets for school musicals and was a supporter of school athletics.
Bill was an avid golfer and loved watching his grandchildren's sporting events. In retirement, he and his wife Carlene enjoyed cruises and traveled the world. He was also a voracious reader, always with a stack of books at the ready. Daily crossword puzzles were always a passion as well.
Bill is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Carlene (Stolpe) Elrick, his children, Andrew Elrick of Boston and Jeffrey Elrick with his wife Kelly, of Hopkinton, NH, as well as his grandchildren Brendan and Stephanie. He is predeceased by his parents, Robert and Elizabeth (Mazzotta) Elrick, and sister, Mary Pope.
Calling hours will be held Saturday, February 10, 2024 from 1-3 p.m. at Leete-Stevens Enfield Chapels, 61 South Road, Enfield, CT. A memorial service will follow the calling hours at 3 p.m. at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, his family asks for donations to be made to the Friends of the Enfield Library.
