Austin Shellhause Obituary

Austin Todd Shellhause 1992—2017
Austin Todd Shellhause, 25, of Hazel Green, Wisconsin and Lanark, Illinois, lived life to the fullest, sharing his "go-getter" spirit with friends and family. Whenever he was around, life was fun and full of energy. Austin died Tuesday, October 31, 2017, as the result of a vehicle accident while working near Cuba City. Austin was born August 9, 1992, in Freeport, Illinois, the son of Todd (Stacey Byer) Shellhause and Gina (Jeff) (White) Hockman. His mom says, "Austin was a farm boy from Day 1." As a young man, Austin worked on the Boelkens, Janssen and Sturtevant Farms. He was a graduate of the Eastland High School with the Class of 2010, where he played third base in baseball on the 2009 4th Place State Team. He went on to attend Highland College and graduated from the University of Wisconsin Platteville with a Ag Business/Animal Science Degree in 2014. Austin enjoyed playing golf with Grandpa Dean. He also loved to hunt, fish, snowmobile, ride dirt bikes, four-wheelers and his John Deere Gator. He would return to Lanark every week to have a boys night with his Dad and Uncle Dan at Rack & Wing, along with playing in the Shannon Slow Pitch Summer League. Austin loved being an older brother to Hannah, they enjoyed growing up together and finding their way into and out of mischief. After graduation from UW Platteville, Austin worked as a Technician for Sloan Implement in Cuba City, and was promoted to Store Manager in 2016. He was a great people-person and enjoyed his work and customers. Austin will be dearly missed by his mother, Gina (Jeff) Hockman of Freeport; father, Todd (Stacey Byer) Shellhause of Lanark; sister, Hannah Shellhause of Loveland, Colorado; maternal grandfather, Dean (Nancy) White of Roscoe; paternal grandfather, Steve (Nancy) Shellhause of Lanark; longtime girlfriend, Marie Muir of Dubuque, Iowa; three aunts, Deb (Denny) Plattenberger of Mt. Carroll, Misty (Brian) Allen of Portland, Oregon and Jennifer (Brad) Kiper of Freeport; uncle, Steve (Susan) Shellhause of Lanark; and many cousins. Austin is preceded in death by his maternal grandmother, Janice White in 1995; and paternal grandmother, Faye Shellhause in 2014.
Funeral service will be held with Masonic Rites at 1 p.m. Saturday, November 4, 2017, at the Eastland High School, Lanark, Illinois. Visitation will be held prior to the service from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Eastland High School. Burial will be in the Schreiner Cemetery, Brookville. I had the opportunity to get to know Austin through my work with Sloan Implement. I had many interactions with Austin and shot a video interview with him. Let me just say, that I loved my time with Austin as he was always cheerful, passionate about working at Sloan's and loved talking about my favorite team and Austin's - The Chicago Cubs. I am shocked like many and sincerest condolences to the entire family and Austin's many close friends. Austin, you will be missed and never forgotten.

My deepest sympathy to Austin's family and especially to his Mom Gina. Austin will be missed by many. He was too young and too full of life to be gone from earth this soon but God has other plans as he goes on before us.
